There are lots of fun and creative ways to host a fundraiser for A Well-Fed World. One of the easiest is to simply create a Facebook fundraiser; click the link and follow the quick and easy instructions. If you’re doing a fundraiser for Hunger Action Month, you can set your fundraiser to be live through the end of September. Alternately, you could extend it through October 16th since that is World Food Day. Or you can do a separate fundraiser for A Well-Fed World from October 8–16 in honor of World Food Week. Facebook and Instagram fundraisers are also great to host for your birthday, Christmas, or other holidays where folks may want to give you gift. When you share your fundraiser, you can say something like, “For my birthday [or other holiday] this year, I’m asking friends to consider donating to A Well-Fed World.”
You can also turn a personal challenge or special event into a fundraiser for A Well-Fed World. If you’re participating in a marathon, race, bike ride, hike, or other event, invite friends and family to support your efforts by making a donation. You can create a Facebook fundraiser or choose a fundraising platform like GoFundMe, share about your challenge or special event, and pin the post to the top of your social media profile. It’s a great way to turn something you’re doing for yourself into an opportunity to help create a well-fed, plant-based world.
Another fun option is to host a vegan bake sale. Reach out to a local community center, church, school, farmer’s market or other neighborhood venue and see if they’d be willing to let you host a bake sale for charity. Some businesses like your local co-op might also be willing to let you set up outside. If you want to do one in September, let them know it’s for Hunger Action Month, or you could do a World Food Day or World Food Week of Action bake sale in October, a Thanksgiving bake sale in November, a Holiday bake sale in December, etc. Recruit a few volunteers willing to help make baked goods, choose a date and location with good foot traffic, and advertise on social media and around town. Get more bake sale tips here. (April is the official month of the annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale, but you can do a vegan bake sale anytime!)
You can also host a vegan potluck, dinner, or tasting event and put out a jar for donations to A Well-Fed World (or Plants-4-Hunger). We can send you a QR code to print and tape to the jar for virtual giving, as well as copies of our beautiful 12 page booklet describing our work and programs. Fall is a great time to a host a Harvest dinner/potluck, or let your Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or other holiday gathering double as a fundraiser for A Well-Fed World.
