Feeding Equity supports racial, gender, LGBTQ+, immigrant‑rights, and democracy‑focused communities with plant‑based nourishment and values that advance equity and collective care.
About the Feeding Equity Fund
We launched the Feeding Equity Fund in 2020 to support plant-based advocates organizing or participating in racial justice actions across the United States. The goal was to ensure that plant‑based meals were available in movement spaces where people were gathering for justice, safety, and collective liberation.
In 2026, thanks to a generous grant from the Gregory J. Reiter Memorial Fund, we're expanding the Feeding Equity Fund and broadening the scope to include solidarity with all human rights movements.
Why Feeding Equity Matters
Feeding Equity builds on our long‑standing hunger‑relief programs while expanding our scope to prioritize cross‑movement solidarity. Feeding Equity provides plant‑based foods and support for human rights gatherings where nourishment strengthens social equity and collective care. This includes:
- racial and gender justice events
- LGBTQ+ community gatherings
- democracy and human rights rallies
- mutual aid food and goods distributions
- immigrant‑focused safety efforts
By centering nourishment in these spaces, Feeding Equity helps ensure that people advocating for their rights and the rights of others have access to plant‑based foods that promote a just world for all.
Animal Protection & Plant-Based Connection
For animal and plant-based advocates, supporting human rights movements is a win-win. When communities experience plant‑based nourishment as part of their own work, it strengthens the understanding that justice for humans and justice for animals are interconnected. Feeding Equity helps build trust, connection, and shared values. These relationships create openings for deeper conversations about food systems, climate, and animals, grounded in solidarity rather than separation.
Your Support Makes This Possible
Feeding Equity is designed to move quickly, meet emerging needs, and strengthen solidarity across movements. Donor support allows us to:
- respond rapidly to crises and community requests
- resource plant-based groups providing direct food access
- expand plant‑based options in justice‑oriented spaces
- uplift organizers who are caring for their communities
- ensure that nourishment remains a foundation for equity
Every contribution helps us sustain and grow this work. Together, we can make sure that food access supports justice, safety, and collective care in the moments and movements where it matters most.
