Special thanks to all the support from UU communities since our inception in 2009. We have always had a close bond because of our shared progressive values, especially for feeding people in need and dedication to promoting food as a basic human right. In 2024, we created this page after being inspired by the thoughtfulness and exceptional generosity of the First Church Unitarian in Littleton, Massachusetts.
Here’s our thank you video that includes information about our Plants-4-Hunger gift-donation feeding program (that sends 100% of funds to support the plant-based feeding programs of small groups combating hunger in their communities and disaster relief). Plants-4-Hunger is our compassionate and eco-friendly alternative to harmful livestock gifting organizations.
We Share the Seven Principles
The UU’s Seven Principles align perfectly with plant-based feeding programs and food choices.
1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person:
- UUs affirm the intrinsic value of all individuals. Plant-based hunger relief recognizes and supports the dignity of those in need and helps everyone receive nourishment.
2. Justice, equity, and compassion:
- UUs advocate for fairness and empathy. Plant-based hunger relief addresses food insecurity, just distribution of resources, and compassion for people, animals, and the planet.
3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement of spiritual growth:
- UUs foster inclusive communities. Plant-based hunger relief encourages kindness, acceptance of differences, and spiritual growth through compassionate action.
4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning:
- UUs value intellectual exploration and enrichment. Plant-based hunger relief stems from heartfelt inquiry about sustainable food systems and ethical choices.
5. The right of conscience and use of democratic process:
- UUs uphold individual autonomy and democratic decision-making. Plant-based hunger relief empowers self-determination and reflects a commitment to collective well-being.
6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all:
- UUs envision a global community based on peace and justice. Plant-based hunger relief contributes to a more nourished, equitable, and nonviolent world.
7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part:
- UUs recognize interconnectedness with all life. Plant-based hunger relief reinforces food as a right and the many benefits of plant-based foods on personal and planetary survival.
