  • Ethiopian Conference & Food Share Program

AWFW partnered with the International Fund for Africa and the Ethiopian Vegan Association to organize a one-day conference that attracted more than 100 attendees and extensive television coverage.

New volunteers also joined EVA and our training for the weekly Food Sharing Program that feeds more than 100 people every Saturday for only $60!

  • The Farm Bill - Factory Farm Subsidies

The 2012 Farm Bill (not yet passed) will allocate about $100 billion EVERY year over the next five-ten years.

Reforming the Farm Bill is one of the most important steps for creating structural change and healthy food systems. Our priority is minimzing subsidies for commodity crops (such as corn and soy) which are used as cheap animal feed to massively support meat, dairy, and egg factory farms. Along with that we strengthen support for fresh produce and healthy food availability for low-income communities.

  • USDA vs. PCRM Dietary Guidelines

Every five years, the USDA releases their Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  This is the government's official nutritional guidelines from which the MyPyramid (now the MyPlate) food teaching graphic is derived.

Compare the USDA's recommendations to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's Power Plate recommendations.
